Resumen
The Pedagogue and psychologist Ana Maria Poppovic played important role in the history of Brazilian Education between the 70th and 80th developing in collaboration with her study group, a material for literacy of children culturally marginalized. Used and applied in almost all States of Brazil, the "Alfa Program" had as its target audience children in the early years of basic education in literacy process. Ana Maria Poppovic, through its studies, observed a large number of children with difficulties in the process of literacy, that is, in her conception, the children were not ready / able to become literate. She has noted common features between children who had failed, as for example, economically and culturally disadvantaged environments; and similarities between teachers who acted in a school system generally poor in educational materials, technical resources, in addition to having to follow and teach a mass of helpless students. Thus, Poppovic devoted herself in developing a program that supported (in the form of content and material) the students and the teachers. With duration of three years (the three early years literacy school phase), the "Alfa Program" has given emphasis to the student and teacher with little resourses, in order to enable improvements in the education of marginalized children and to promote a broad and emancipation formation. Influenced by its passage by the United States as a visiting scholar in the Division of Curriculum and Teaching at Columbia University, Poppovic applied to "Alfa Program" the characteristic of compensatory education, based on the same principle of the ideas of the Head Start (a low-income children program assistance, that offers services such as, for example, education). Methodology the research has theoretical bibliographic character in order to understand the educational practices through the context and the limiting factors. In an attempt to analyze how the knowledge traveled and has been incorporated into Brazil by the concepts of Travelling Knowledge and Indigenous Foreigner of Popkewitz, because the production and dissemination of knowledge travel and recreate themselves from the context and location where they are being inserted. One of the aspects that characterize the relevance of this research is the large number of children who had contact with the "Alfa Program" during the process of literacy, approximately 1,5 million students were literate with the material. Therefore, we believe that Ana Maria Poppovic, through the “Alfa Program”, has participated and collaborated with studies and assistance, for an education process for the emancipation of many children.
