Resumen

The International TextbookCat combines three different textbook collections: the research library of the Georg Eckert Institute with its 176,500 textbooks from all over the world, the EDISCO textbook collection at the Università Degli Studi di Torino, Italy, and the MANES textbook collection of the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, Spain. It brings together these three key textbook collections and makes them available to researchers via a multilingual and international catalogue. With the International TextbookCat, educational media researchers no longer need to access these three catalogues individually but can gain an immediate overview of the materials available in all three collections. The presentation will present the multilingual interface that can filter search results via criteria such as “country of use”, “level of education”, “school subject” or “school type”. Based on an example it will also outline its potential for a new kind of research in history of education based on new approaches of digital humanities.
